Tête-à-Tête à Trois
Winemaker Challenge
What is Tête-à-Tête à Trois?
Tête-à-Tête à Trois translates to ‘head to head by three’.
In our Tête-à-Tête à Trois challenge, the three MyattsField winemakers take fruit from the very same vineyard, harvested at the exact same time. From there, all bets are off.
Each winemaker exerts their own creative vision to craft a single wine that captures their distinct style.
These small-batch, limited-release wines offer a rare glimpse into the winemaker’s mind, showcasing just how much stylistic expression is possible when all other variables are fixed.

We are excited that Tête-à-Tête à Trois has returned to MyattsField in 2026. This year, the winemakers will be presenting their take on Chenin Blanc.
The wines will be launched at a winemakers’ dinner (Sold Out), and two hosted masterclasses in the winery where you can try the wines, tasted blind, and hear what approach each winemaker took.
It’s always a fun and interactive event – with plenty of friendly rivalry amongst the winemaking team. Of course, you are the one that gets the casting vote to decide who the winner will be!
The winemakers:

- Josh Uren: The Factotum

Why Chenin Blanc?
Chenin Blanc is a grape that has extraordinary structural flexibility that can seamlessly transform into many different styles based on decisions that are made in the winery.
In 2024, a parcel of Chenin Blanc fruit was ear-marked specifically for this challenge. The vineyard is grown on ancient ironstone gravels over clay soils, naturally low in fertility that require the vine to work hard – ensuring fruit of concentration and intensity. This vintage was also one of the earliest, fastest-paced, and hottest harvests on record – and an incredibly tough, highly heat-tolerant varietal like Chenin Blanc is well-suited in a season like this.
In the winery, the natural high acidity acts as a structural backbone and, along with a balanced fruit profile, Chenin maintains its core identity through many winemaking techniques. Because of this, it is often considered a ‘blank canvas’ for winemakers to utilise different fermentation vessels, increased oak or skin contact, and a range of yeast profiles. It is also incredibly age-worthy and can be made into sparkling or dessert style wines.
