Tête à Tête à Trois 3-Pack
For such a small winery, we are blessed at MyattsField to have three qualified and experienced winemakers on staff. For a bit of fun we make light of this with our ‘Tête à Tête à Trois’ series, in which the same parcel of fruit is split three ways to allow each winemaker a creative license to do as they please. The resulting wines highlight the winemakers creative influence and the impact different winemaking techniques have in shaping a wines personality.
These wines – The Founder, The Flyer and The Factotum – are presented to our customers in a fun series of dinners and tastings at which we ask the question “which do you prefer?”. By the end of the TTT series, one winemaker will stand victorious, bestowed with bragging rights before the losers retreat to the cellar to conceive a plan for next years competition and vinous redemption.
In 2024 the selected variety was Chenin Blanc, for its structural flexibility that can seamlessly transform into many different styles based on the winemaking decisions.
Fermented in stainless steel tank to preserve a fresh vibrancy and fruit purity, this wine is the epitome of elegance and style (yes, The Founder is the one editing this page!).
The Factotum
Fermented in ceramic egg with partial solids, the wine has considerably more mouthfeel and mid-palate roundness than The Founder’s wine. The ceramic egg does a great job of achieving this while also preserving and showcasing Chenin Blanc’s primary fruits.
The Flyer
Fermented in a new French oak hogshead barrel. The palate is rounded and enriched with sweet oak aromas and flavours supporting primary fruits, while lengthening the palate and ensuring a dry finish.
