This wine began its life as an exclusive Left Field Club release in 2019. It was met with much enthusiasm by members and was later recognised at the Perth Hills Wine show with a Gold medal and two trophies. A follow up release also performed well and convinced us that the blend was worth further exploration. With a more focused selection on fruit sources, press fractions and oak regime, this humble LFC experiment has now evolved into the first release of new reserve range of wines. Old Shiraz vines grown in the heavy gravel loams of the Perth Hills was co-fermented with Touriga in traditional opened topped fermenters. After 10 days on skins the best press fractions are selected for maturation in one year old Minnesota American puncheons. At six months the wine is blended with some Durif before a further twelve months maturation. From Shiraz we get richness, plushness and fruit weight, from Touriga we get a soft, velvety tannin structure and lifted aromatics and from Durif drive, length and concentration. The resulting wine is layered, complex and truly unique.
