2008 Chardonnay
The fruit for this Chardonnay was sourced from two vineyards. One a dry grown vineyard on the floor of the Bickley Valley, the second, the highest elevated vineyard in Western Australia, also in the Bickley Valley.
Two thirds of this wine was fermented in new French and American oak to give the palate broadness and complexity, while one third was fermented at cold temperatures in stainless steel tanks to retain fruit freshness. Bâtonnage (lees stirring) was employed to ensure the palate is soft and well rounded.
Lifted citrus blossom and subtle vanillin oak aromas greet the nose, while white peach and grapefruit flavours are found on a full and creamy palate. The finely structured acid ensures the wine finishes crisp and clean with long length.
This is an elegant Chardonnay showing subtle complexity and finesse.
