2007 Barrel Fermented Semillon

The Semillon fruit was sourced from low lying vineyards in Bickley Valley. The vines were originally planted in 1986 by Wiebe Tieleman and receive no supplementary irrigation. At the base of the valley the cold air settles overnight, slowing the ripening process and preserving natural acid levels. The result is well balanced, intensely flavoured fruit.

Barrel fermentation in new French oak hogsheads followed by bātonnage (lees stirring) has produced a complex wine, well suited to cellaring.

Currently the wine displays lime, citrus and vanillan oak flavours but toasty bottle aged characters await the patient.
